Breaking Thru Blog Writer’s Block!

Every blog writer who posts regularly will go through dry spells where they struggle to come up with meaningful topics to write about. The first thing to remember is that blogs are not novels so don’t worry about creating that perfect posting.

Business blog marketing takes regular and consistent blog postings and following your blog plan.

Here are some ideas to help break thru and get those ideas flowing.

  1. Plan ahead: Look at your blog plan. What topics did you plan on writing about? Should you expand your plan? I keep a list of writing subjects and jot down new ideas when they hit me.
  2. Read, read, and read: Spend time each day reading other blogs related to your topic. Bookmark those that you find very interesting. Go back thru your bookmarked articles when you need new ideas.
  3. Search Engines: Go to your favorite search engine and start typing in pertinent random phrases. See what topics grab your interest until you find that right topic.
  4. Choose your time: Write when you are at your best. For me it is early in the morning and before my day starts. If this still isn’t working, vary your time and try writing off hours when you’re beyond tired.
  5. Clear your mind: Try closing your eyes and meditating for a few minutes. Go do some chores such as mowing the grass or washing dishes. It’s amazing how ideas can come when you take a break.
  6. Easy Stuff: If you have several writing projects, choose the one that is the easiest and most interesting to get started with.

Blogging takes dedication and commitment. It’s important to keep blogging even when you are temporarily stumped about what to write next. Pretty soon you will have a flood of new ideas and you can’t write fast enough.
