Excellent point. Blogs have helped in this area where there is easier access to publication and blogs are a great medium for opinions, insights and analysis.

The big challenge facing the printed newspapers is how to have an online presence where they can develop an income stream.

Does anyone know of any newspapers doing a good job of this?

Although there are many advantages that digital has over print, speed is a two edged sword. You can have fast reporting and analysis or you can have thoughtful reporting and analysis, but only very rarely can you have both.

Speedy reporting has its place, but so also do the thoughtful insights that come with a longer production cycle.
