How to Get More Website Traffic

A constant stream of visitors is the lifeblood of any website. No matter how nice a website looks or how well it can convert a visitor into a buyer, it is utterly useless without people to view it. Before you have a site built, decide how you are going to promote it to bring in visitors.

What are your options to bring in more website traffic?

  1. Organic SEO: Search Engine Optimization uses keywords in the text, headings, page names and META tags and get other relevant sites to link to your website. For best SEO results, this should be built into the site.
  2. Pay per click: Advertise directly on the search engines to get almost instant results. For the best conversions, traffic should be directed to landing pages.
  3. Social media: Regular blogging attracts readers who are interested in your topic. Social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn are good for developing a following. Links from these sources are helpful in SEO.
  4. Email marketing: Develop opt-in mailing lists and market your site. Find other related companies that have prominent newsletters. Approach them to allow you to advertise on their email newsletters.
  5. Promote in print ads: Include your URL on all newspaper and magazine ads. Include your website URL on all invoices, statements, proposals, letterheads, business cards and brochures.
  6. Education: Setup a webinar and promote it on the social networks. Give away a free report or analysis. Offer a free ebook on your site. This could be information that would be helpful to your visitors that contains your business information, too.
