Information Converts More Sales
Websites need to become more than just a place where your products can be looked at and purchased. Today, most websites I see are missing so many valuable opportunities to gain more traffic, popularity and recognition.
In other words - MORE MONEY!
We know that search engines love content and we also know that it is a struggle for business owners to balance content with the consumer experience by not flooding them with text and loosing their attention.
I believe that a great website is one that has a wealth of information, all related to what the business does. Organized properly, this can be a great resource for consumers. Search engines love content and big traffic, so become a subject matter expert in your field and become a resource for consumers.
A good example:
Cookie’s Kitchen manufactures and provides ergonomically correct kitchen utensils for the distinguished cook. The website offers the standard “home” page and additional pages such as “about us”, “kitchen products”, “contact us”, “testimonials” and a “Frequently Asked Questions” area. Pretty much the basics.
If I were to recommend just one thing to this business to step up its game 10 fold, it would be to become a resource for the distinguished cook. Don’t just tap into the cook searching for your product, tap into that cooks every need so they are seeing you as a valuable resource, and oh by the way, they just happened to buy your products too.
Have a recipe page, a cooking tips page, a resource page of websites that carry food and wine for the distinguished cook, offer information and reviews on products that compliment what you do, a list of distinguishing restuarants with information on the establishment and the area?
and keep going.
With all this information you can build a reputation on the search engines as a very important resource in your field. This will bring tons of new traffic to your website and will allow the business to convert more sales.
