Adding a short video to your website or blog adds another dimension to your content. Video attracts and helps convert visitor traffic for your website. Video adds a voice and a face to your website helping brand you as the expert. Adding video is almost like sitting across the table from an interested prospect.
People learn in different ways. Presenting only text may work well for search engines, but it limits your ability to interact with your audience. People today respond more to video than they do to text alone.
What are some effective website video strategies?
- Attract website visitors: Post your video clip on a video sharing website like YouTube. Include embedded links to your website along with a watermark of your URL. Make it interesting or humorous and it can go viral.
- Use keywords: Incorporate a good keyword rich article on the same page as the video. Apply keywords to the video title, description and keyword tags. Search engines will index your video bringing website traffic.
- Build email lists: Use video to encourage people to sign up for your email list. Video helps build trust and people will be more likely to trust you with their email address.
- How to video: Show your audience how to do something step by step. This is powerful because they can follow along. This is a great way to build your credibility because you are educating them.
- Product Demo: Demonstrate products in use to help viewers visualize what you are selling. You can use video to demonstrate assembly or safety instructions.
- Testimonials: Video testimonials are much more effective than text only testimonials. People can see the enthusiasm and commitment of your happy customers.

Thanks for the blog!!!
Quick question: how do you deal with load time issues if you have two or more video clips on your website?

You can code your page to load the other page elements first and then the video. Here is a link to a good how-to article to do this.

Putting a video on your blog is definitely a smart idea. I think it may also help to put your video on other free sites as well besides YouTube like Vimeo and AdWido as well. That way you can maximize how much exposure you might get just for one video and a few more minutes of your time.
