A global change is happening with the Internet being integrated into everyday life. Change is being driven with low cost desktop computers, mobile technology and easy access to high speed Internet. Social media gives every person easy access to public conversations.
Understanding the social media demographics is key in social media marketing. In general, women will spend more time nurturing relationships and in social network building. Men tend to spend more time transacting than in nurturing relationships. The following demographics information is taken from data found in quantcast.com. Niche opportunities are taken from higher than typical Internet audience demographics.
- About.com: Answers and information site with 83 million monthly visits (US). A very slightly female biased audience.55% female. 33% age 35-49. Niche Opportunities: Caucasian, female, middle aged.
