Video to Improve Website Conversion

Videos added to your website catch a visitor’s attention and persuade them to take action. Web video is a powerful way to educate, while allowing people to feel entertained. If you chose your videos well you will notice that people will stay on your website longer.

Most visitors just scan web pages looking for answers. Their eyes quickly move thru headlines and prominent text. Most visitors will take the time to watch a video if the website seems relevant to their search.  Nothing convinces people better than video, except perhaps face to face presentations.

Video is better than just text. With video, people receive much more than your message. Body language and your voice inflections increase communication. For viewers, watching a video is almost as good as meeting you in person.

Conversion is about getting your website visitor to take the action you want. Effective videos combine educational value, entertainment and guide the viewer to take an action.

Guidelines for Web Video

  1. Quality: Videos that present valuable information strengthen your website’s message. The opposite is also true. Videos that waste a viewer’s time will hurt your website conversion.
  2. Relevance: The video should be highly relevant to the web page topic. It should clearly support that page’s conversion goal.
  3. Length: Keep it short, about one minute is ideal to get attention and create interest.
  4. Choice: Don’t automatically start your video when someone arrives; allow them to ask for the information by starting the video themselves.

Ideas for web video

  1. Demonstrate your product in action
  2. Video assembly instruction for your product
  3. Video testimonials for your services
